Job description

Looked After Children Tutor – Gateshead (NE11)

TP Tutors is seeking compassionate and reliable tutors to support Looked After Children in the Gateshead (NE11) area through personalised, one-to-one tuition.

This role focuses on providing stability, encouragement, and tailored academic support to children and young people who may have experienced disruption in their education. You will support learners in core subjects such as Maths, English, and Science, while also helping to build confidence, routine, and positive engagement with learning.

Sessions are delivered face-to-face, either in the pupil’s home or within a local community setting such as a library. Each session is carefully planned around the individual needs of the learner, balancing academic progress with emotional and pastoral support.

The role involves:

  • Delivering structured 1:1 tuition to Looked After Children

  • Adapting learning to suit individual ability, pace, and emotional needs

  • Building strong, consistent, and trusting relationships

  • Supporting sustained academic progress and engagement

We welcome applications from qualified teachers, experienced tutors, and education professionals with experience supporting vulnerable learners. An Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one) is essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
