Are you an experienced and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role in a primary school? We are currently seeking a dedicated KS2 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Blackburn on a full-time basis for the academic year.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting pupils' learning, building confidence, and helping children achieve their full potential during the important Key Stage 2 years.

About the Role

As a KS2 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to enhance learning outcomes across Key Stage 2. The role combines general classroom support with targeted intervention work, helping pupils develop the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing general Teaching Assistant support within a KS2 classroom.
  • Supporting teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
  • Delivering targeted SATs intervention sessions to small groups and individual pupils.
  • Providing additional support in English and Mathematics to improve attainment and confidence.
  • Supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to access the curriculum.
  • Assisting with classroom organisation, preparation of learning resources and assessment activities.
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging pupil engagement in learning.
  • Helping to create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who:

  • Has previous experience working within a primary school setting.
  • Has experience supporting pupils within Key Stage 2.
  • Has a good understanding of SATs preparation and intervention strategies.
  • Is confident supporting English and Mathematics learning.
  • Has experience working with children with SEND.
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
  • Is patient, adaptable and committed to raising pupil achievement.
  • Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent school-based experience.
