Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 1 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and welcoming primary school. This is a full-time position, offering the opportunity to play a key role in supporting pupils during a crucial stage of their learning journey.

The Role

Working closely with the Year 1 class teacher, you will provide general classroom support while delivering targeted interventions to help pupils develop their literacy skills.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing general classroom support within a Year 1 setting.
• Delivering phonics interventions to small groups and individual pupils.
• Supporting pupils during guided reading sessions.
• Assisting with lesson preparation and classroom organisation.
• Encouraging pupil engagement and confidence in learning.
• Supporting the teacher in maintaining high expectations of behaviour and achievement.
• Helping to create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working within a primary school setting.
• Has a good understanding of phonics and early reading development.
• Is confident delivering small-group and one-to-one interventions.
• Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
• Is proactive, patient, and enthusiastic about supporting children's learning.
• Demonstrates strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
• Is committed to maintaining high classroom standards and supporting pupil progress.
