KS1 Teaching Assistant – Primary Schools | Sheffield & Barnsley
We are looking for enthusiastic and committed KS1 Teaching Assistants to join welcoming primary schools across Sheffield and Barnsley. This is a fantastic opportunity to support children in Years 1 and 2, helping them thrive academically and socially.
Location: Sheffield & Barnsley
Role: KS1 Teaching Assistant
Start Date: September 2025 (immediate starts available)
⏰ Contract: Full-time / Part-time | Term-time only | Long-term
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils in Year 1 and Year 2 with learning and classroom activities
- Deliver small group interventions and provide 1:1 support where required
- Assist the teacher in preparing and delivering engaging lessons
- Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
- Encourage pupils’ confidence, independence, and progress
✅ Requirements:
- Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2/3) or relevant experience
- Experience supporting children in KS1 (desirable)
- Good knowledge of phonics and early literacy/numeracy support
- A positive, patient, and proactive approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
