Job description

Full-Time KS1 Teaching Assistant (1:1 – Complex Needs)
Location: Mainstream Primary School
Agency: Teaching Personnel
Contract: Full-time, remainder of the academic year (with potential extension into next academic year)
Start Date: Ideally 23rd February (subject to vetting)

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a welcoming mainstream primary school to recruit a dedicated and experienced KS1 Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a child with complex needs.

This is a full-time role running for the remainder of the academic year, with a strong possibility of continuing into the next academic year for the right candidate.

The Role:

  • Providing 1:1 support to a KS1 pupil with complex needs

  • Supporting learning, engagement and emotional regulation throughout the school day

  • Implementing strategies in line with EHCP targets and guidance from the SENCO

  • Working closely with class teachers and the wider SEN team

  • Supporting both academic progress and social development in a mainstream setting

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Must have school-based SEN experience (applications without this will not be considered)

  • Confident supporting children with complex needs in a primary setting

  • Resilient, calm and consistent, with the ability to be firm but fair

  • Able to build strong, positive relationships while maintaining clear boundaries

  • Proactive, patient and adaptable in a demanding but rewarding role

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous school-based SEN experience (essential)

  • Right to work in the UK

  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service is highly desirable to meet the proposed start date

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
