KS1 1-1 SEN Teaching Assistant - North Somerset - Full Time
Location: North Somerset
Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm
Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding 1-1 role? We are working with a mainstream primary school in North Somerset who are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1-1 support to a child in KS1 with additional needs.
This is a great opportunity for someone with SEN experience who can bring a calm, consistent and supportive approach to help a child thrive in their learning and grow in confidence.
The Role:
- Providing dedicated 1-1 support to a KS1 pupil with additional needs within a mainstream classroom
- Building a strong, trusting relationship with the child
- Supporting the child to access classroom learning and stay engaged with activities
- Helping with transitions, daily routines and tasks throughout the school day
- Encouraging independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours
- Supporting social skills, communication and emotional regulation
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to track progress
- Creating a calm, structured and nurturing environment for the child
We Are Looking For:
- Experience supporting children with SEN in a school setting (essential)
- Experience working in a mainstream school is desirable
- Experience working with KS1 aged children
- A calm, patient and reassuring approach
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
- Ability to stay positive and composed in challenging situations
- Strong communication and relationship building skills
- Reliability, professionalism and a commitment to safeguarding
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
