Teaching Personnel is recruiting individual needs assistants (INAs) for 1:1 roles across SEN and mainstream schools in West Sussex for September 2026. As an INA, you'll be assigned to work exclusively with one pupil, getting to know them deeply and providing the consistent, tailored support that helps them access education and build confidence every day.
It's a role that requires focus, dedication, and a real understanding of what it means to walk alongside a young person on their learning journey.
What you'll be doing:
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a named pupil with special educational needs.
- Delivering support in line with the pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
- Assisting with learning, communication, personal care and social development as required.
- Building a consistent, trusting relationship that helps the pupil feel safe and supported.
- Communicating regularly with the class teacher and SENCO to review progress.
Who we're looking for:
- Previous experience in a 1:1 SEN support role, or equivalent experience in care or youth work.
- Understanding of EHCPs and how to put them into practice.
- Patient, focused and able to adapt your approach to meet one pupil's specific needs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
- Calm, professional and committed to the pupil's long-term progress.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
