Humanities Teacher – Secondary School

Location: Wincanton
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, Long-term
Salary: MPS/UPS, dependent on experience

Are you a passionate Humanities Teacher looking for your next teaching opportunity from September 2026? Teaching Personnel is working with a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Wincanton that is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Humanities Teacher to join their Humanities department.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Humanities Teacher with a strong background in subjects such as History, Geography, Religious Education or Social Sciences. The successful candidate will be passionate about inspiring students, developing their knowledge and encouraging them to think critically about the world around them.

The Role

As a Humanities Teacher, you will be responsible for:

  • Planning and delivering engaging Humanities lessons across KS3 and KS4.

  • Teaching subjects within your specialist area, such as History, Geography or RE.

  • Creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Differentiating lessons to support students with a range of abilities.

  • Assessing and monitoring student progress and providing effective feedback.

  • Maintaining high standards of behaviour and classroom management.

  • Developing students' critical thinking, analytical and communication skills.

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Humanities department.

  • Contributing to the wider school community and extracurricular activities where appropriate.

The Ideal Humanities Teacher

The school is looking for a teacher who:

  • Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

  • Has experience teaching within a secondary school environment.

  • Has strong subject knowledge in at least one Humanities subject.

  • Can confidently deliver engaging and well-structured lessons.

  • Has strong classroom and behaviour management skills.

  • Can motivate, challenge and support students of different abilities.

  • Is adaptable, reliable and enthusiastic about teaching.

  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
