Teaching Personnel are working closely with a vibrant and inclusive secondary school in Portsmouth, looking to appoint a passionate and committed History Teacher to join from September 2025. This is a full-time, permanent role with full teaching responsibilities.

You will teach History across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to contribute to Key Stage 5 for suitably qualified applicants. We are seeking a teacher who can bring historical events to life, spark curiosity, and promote critical thinking among students.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging History lessons that support student progress and foster a passion for learning.

  • Plan and prepare lessons in accordance with the curriculum and departmental schemes of work.

  • Mark and assess students' work, providing clear and constructive feedback.

  • Track student progress and implement effective strategies to support achievement.

  • Participate fully in departmental and whole-school meetings, CPD, and collaborative planning.

  • Uphold high standards of classroom behaviour and academic performance.

  • Support the wider school community, including involvement in tutor responsibilities and extracurricular activities.

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in History or a related field.

  • Demonstrates a deep knowledge and enthusiasm for History.

  • Has experience teaching History in a secondary school setting (KS3 and KS4 essential).

  • Is committed to inclusive teaching and differentiated instruction.

  • Possesses strong organisational and classroom management skills.

  • Is a reflective and collaborative team member who is keen to develop professionally.
