Job description

We are currently looking for an exceptional History Teacher to join a secondary school in Royton, Oldham. The ideal candidate will have a deep passion for history and a commitment to helping students explore and appreciate the subject in a meaningful and engaging way.

As a History Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering lessons that cover both British and world history. You will be encouraged to create engaging, thought-provoking lessons that foster critical thinking and inspire students to investigate the past. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a supportive environment where history is valued as an integral part of the curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach History across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, covering a wide range of historical topics

  • Develop and deliver engaging, stimulating lessons that encourage student participation

  • Encourage independent learning and foster a love for historical inquiry

  • Track student progress and provide constructive feedback to students and parents

  • Support students with exam preparation, coursework, and revision

  • Participate in extracurricular activities, including history-related clubs and trips

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • A degree in History or a related subject

  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to teach both British and world history

  • Passion for teaching and a commitment to student development

  • Experience with GCSE History (desirable but not essential)

  • Ability to work well in a collaborative team

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced History teacher or an NQT to join a school with a supportive leadership team and an emphasis on professional development.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
