History Teacher
Job description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable History Teacher to join secondary schools across Hastings and the surrounding areas of East Sussex. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified teacher who is passionate about History and committed to inspiring students to understand the past, think critically, and develop analytical skills.
This role is suitable for experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and are looking for long-term, permanent, or flexible teaching opportunities.
The Role:

Teaching History across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially KS5 in some schools)

Planning and delivering engaging, well-structured lessons in line with the national curriculum
-
Encouraging students to develop historical knowledge, critical thinking, and analytical skills
-
Assessing, monitoring, and tracking student progress
-
Supporting students of varying abilities to achieve their full potential
-
Creating a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment
-
Collaborating with the wider Humanities department and school staff
Essential Requirements:
-
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
-
A recognised degree in History or a related subject
-
Strong subject knowledge of the secondary History curriculum
-
Effective classroom and behaviour management skills
-
A professional, enthusiastic, and adaptable approach to teaching

An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
