Job Title: Full-Time History Teacher
Location: Burnley High School, East Lancashire
Contract: Temp to Perm
Start Date: February 2026 (or as soon as possible)

The Role

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic History Teacher to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will inspire students through engaging lessons that bring the past to life, encourage analytical thinking, and support a deep understanding of historical events, contexts, and perspectives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality History lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.

  • Develop and implement schemes of work that meet curriculum requirements and foster a love of History.

  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing clear, constructive feedback and support.

  • Contribute to extra-curricular and enrichment activities, promoting History within the wider school community.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance teaching practices and support curriculum development.


Person Specification

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience teaching History.

  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for historical education.

  • Ability to inspire, challenge, and motivate students of all abilities.

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.

  • Commitment to continuous professional development and collaborative working.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
