Job description

We’re Hiring: Secondary History Teachers in Bristol

Start Date: ASAP
Full-Time / Part-Time | Flexible Supply with Permanent Opportunities | Key Stage 3 & 4

Do you believe History is about more than dates and events? That it helps students understand the past, think critically, and make sense of the world today?

We’re looking for passionate and adaptable Secondary History Teachers in Bristol who are seeking flexible supply work, with the opportunity to progress into long-term or permanent roles.


✅ The Role:

  • Deliver engaging History lessons across KS3 and KS4

  • Teach key topics such as British, European, and World History

  • Develop students’ analytical, evaluative, and source-analysis skills

  • Encourage debate, critical thinking, and historical enquiry

  • Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including SEND

  • Maintain positive classroom behaviour and a supportive learning environment

  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback

  • Work collaboratively with Humanities departments, support staff, and parents

  • Gain experience across a range of school settings through supply placements


✅ Who This Role Suits:

  • Qualified History Teachers (QTS or equivalent)

  • ECTs/NQTs looking to gain experience across different schools

  • Experienced teachers seeking flexibility or a change of environment

  • Educators open to long-term or permanent opportunities following supply roles

  • Individuals passionate about History and student engagement


✅ Experience & Requirements:

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or pending QTS

  • Degree or strong subject knowledge in History or a related subject

  • Experience teaching History at KS3 and/or KS4 (including during training)

  • Confident classroom management and communication skills

  • Ability to adapt quickly to new school environments

  • Commitment to inclusive and high-quality education

  • Enhanced Child-Only DBS (or willingness to apply)
