Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Mainstream Secondary School (Sefton)
Start Date: Monday 13th April
Pay: £100 – £125 per day
Contract: Temp to Perm
Location: Sefton, Merseyside
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming mainstream secondary school in the Sefton area. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HLTA who is confident supporting learners across KS3 and KS4, delivering small-group interventions, and leading classes in the absence of the class teacher.
This role begins Monday 13th April and will start on a temporary basis with the strong possibility of becoming a permanent position for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality learning support to students aged 11–16.
- Lead classes during teacher absence, following planned lessons.
- Provide targeted small‑group and 1:1 intervention support.
- Assist teachers in planning, delivery, and assessment of learning.
- Support students with additional needs to access the curriculum effectively.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive and well-managed learning environment.
Requirements
- HLTA qualification or equivalent recognised Level 4 teaching support qualification.
- Experience working within a secondary school setting.
- Strong behaviour management skills.
- Ability to adapt work to meet the needs of a range of learners.
- A proactive and professional approach to supporting teaching and learning.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
