Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Secondary School

Are you an experienced teaching assistant ready to take the next step in your education career?

A vibrant and forward-thinking secondary school in Bournemouth is seeking a confident and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their dedicated team from September 2025.

This is a full-time, term-time only opportunity offering a rewarding and varied role within a dynamic classroom environment.


About the Role

You’ll play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across Key Stages 3 and 4, working with pupils of mixed abilities – including those with mild SEN or additional needs.

This is an ideal position for someone who enjoys engaging with students, delivering small group work or intervention sessions, and occasionally stepping into a class-leading role.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting pupils in-class and delivering targeted interventions

  • Assisting with planning and preparation of lesson materials

  • Covering lessons in the absence of teaching staff (as required)

  • Promoting positive behaviour and learning engagement

  • Supporting students with varying needs, including those with SEN

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
