Job description

Hours: Full time (5 days per week)

Location: Central Bristol

We are working with a fantastic primary school in Central Bristol that is seeking a committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HLTA who is passionate about supporting children's learning and leading the classroom. The school has a supportive leadership team, a friendly staff community and offers great opportunities for professional development.

The Role:
- Planning, preparing and delivering learning activities to whole classes in the absence of the class teacher
- Supporting the class teacher across the school day in KS1 and KS2
- Working with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Leading interventions in core subjects such as phonics, reading, writing and maths
- Helping children who find learning challenging to access the curriculum
- Supporting children with special educational needs including autism (ASD), ADHD, dyslexia and speech and language needs
- Implementing strategies from individual education plans (IEPs) and supporting pupils with EHCPs
- Using positive behaviour management strategies to promote a calm, purposeful learning environment
- Encouraging pupils' confidence, independence and social skills
- Preparing resources and supporting classroom organisation
- Assessing, recording and reporting on pupil progress
- Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO and wider staff team
- Contributing to the wider life of the school where required

We Are Looking For:
- HLTA status or equivalent qualification
- Experience working in a primary school setting
- Confidence in leading whole class teaching
- A patient, enthusiastic and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Resilience, reliability and a positive attitude
- A genuine interest in supporting children's learning, wellbeing and development

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
