Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a high-achieving and ambitious secondary school in Blackburn, Lancashire, to appoint an outstanding Head of Mathematics from January 2027.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mathematics teacher and current middle leader, or an ambitious practitioner ready to take the next step in their leadership journey. The successful candidate will lead a dedicated department and play a key role in driving exceptional outcomes across the school.

The Role:

As Head of Mathematics, you will be responsible for leading and developing a successful department, ensuring outstanding teaching and learning across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will inspire both staff and students, promoting a culture of high expectations, academic excellence, and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing strategic leadership and direction for the Mathematics department.
• Driving high standards of teaching, learning, and student achievement.
• Monitoring and evaluating curriculum delivery and assessment practices.
• Supporting, coaching, and developing teaching staff within the department.
• Analysing student progress data and implementing effective intervention strategies.
• Contributing to whole-school improvement initiatives and leadership priorities.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Has a proven track record of delivering excellent outcomes in Mathematics.
• Possesses leadership experience within a secondary school setting.
• Demonstrates strong communication, organisational, and management skills.
• Is passionate about raising attainment and inspiring young people to succeed.
• Has the ability to motivate, support, and develop colleagues.
