Teaching Personnel is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support one of our specialist education clients in the Nuneaton (CV11) area. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner who is confident leading learning, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, and working closely with teaching staff to deliver high‑quality education.

About the role

As an HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. You will work with pupils with a range of SEND needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), Autism (ASD), and Learning Difficulties (LD).

You will be responsible for delivering small‑group sessions, supporting whole‑class learning, covering lessons when required, and helping to create an inclusive, positive environment where pupils can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver planned learning activities to individuals, small groups, and whole classes in the absence of the teacher.
  • Support teaching staff in assessing, monitoring, and recording pupil progress.
  • Adapt resources and learning materials to ensure accessibility for pupils with diverse needs.
  • Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs and support plans to promote progress and independence.
  • Use specialist tools and approaches, such as visual supports, sensory resources, and communication systems, to enhance learning.
  • Help maintain a calm, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Provide behaviour support using positive, proactive strategies.
  • Assist pupils during transitions, break periods, and off‑site activities.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and wider staff to deliver consistent, high‑quality support.

Requirements:

  • HLTA qualification or substantial experience leading learning / covering lessons.
  • Willingness to complete a DBS check or provide an updated version.
  • Two professional references.
  • Proof of right to work in the UK.
