High Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – 1:1 Support | Year 3 Pupil

Full-Time Opportunity | Immediate / Upcoming Start

Teaching Personnel is seeking an experienced and dedicated High Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to provide 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with a bright, high-functioning child with an EHCP, supporting their academic development and helping them access the curriculum successfully.

About the Role

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil
  • Supporting learning across the primary curriculum as required
  • Delivering targeted reading and phonics interventions
  • Adapting support to meet the pupil's individual needs and learning style
  • Working proactively to encourage independence and confidence
  • Understanding when to provide support and when to step back to promote self-directed learning
  • Supporting the implementation of EHCP targets
  • Liaising effectively with parents and educational professionals where appropriate
  • Contributing to a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment

Essential Requirements

✔️ Previous experience working within KS1 and KS2 settings

✔️ Strong experience delivering phonics interventions

✔️ Knowledge and practical experience of recognised phonics schemes, including:

  • Little Wandle
  • Read Write Inc.

✔️ Excellent literacy support skills, particularly in reading development

✔️ Experience supporting pupils with EHCPs

✔️ Ability to work independently and use initiative

✔️ Strong communication and relationship-building skills

✔️ Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

  • Is patient, nurturing, and highly adaptable
  • Has a strong understanding of primary education and child development
  • Can confidently support learning across different curriculum areas
  • Is proactive and able to respond effectively to changing situations
  • Has excellent observational skills and can identify when support is needed
  • Builds positive and trusting relationships with children and families
  • Is committed to helping pupils achieve their full potential

The successful candidate will be an experienced HLTA or Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting individual learners and has a strong background in phonics and literacy interventions.

This role would suit someone who enjoys working closely with pupils, fostering independence, and making a meaningful impact on educational outcomes.
