Head of Mathematics – Permanent Leadership Role

Full-Time | Permanent
Start: ASAP or after notice period
Salary: £32,916 – £51,047 annually (actual) + TLR 2B

Are you an inspiring Maths specialist ready to take on a strategic leadership role within a large, ambitious 11–18 setting? We’re seeking a committed Head of Mathematics to lead a core department, drive high standards, and play a key role in shaping the school’s continued improvement journey.

Who We’re Looking For

You’ll be a strong match if you:

  • ✔️ Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • ✔️ Possess a degree in Mathematics or significant subject expertise
  • ✔️ Can confidently teach KS3 and KS4, with KS5 experience highly desirable
  • ✔️ Bring strong leadership qualities — from curriculum intent to staff coaching
  • ✔️ Are ready to hit the ground running and support consistent routines and high expectations across the department
  • ✔️ Have a passion for improving teaching, learning, and student well‑being
  • ✔️ Thrive in a school working hard to strengthen ambition, consistency, and outcomes

Role Responsibilities

In this Head of Maths role, you will:

  • Lead and develop the Mathematics department with clarity and vision
  • Oversee curriculum planning, assessment, and data-driven improvement
  • Support teachers through mentoring, coaching, and shared practice
  • Drive high expectations, consistent routines, and strong behaviour for learning
  • Contribute to whole‑school improvement priorities
  • Ensure all students experience engaging, challenging Maths learning

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
