Graduate Teaching Assistants

Date posted : 23/08/19
£60 - £80 per day

Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

With the new academic year fast approaching, schools are preparing for a new cohort of students to begin their KS3 learning. One of our partner schools is looking to invest into its support staff this September and welcome applicants from experienced Teaching Assistants, ideally with a recent degree.

The position exists to add capacity due to increasing student numbers. The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate:

  • The ability to relate well with children and adults
  • Good numeracy/literacy skills educated to GCSE level standard or equivalent with passes including English and Maths at Grade C or above
  • A good understanding of child development and learning
  • Experience of working or caring for children

You will be proactive and able to think on your feet. Often support staff will need to use their initiative to aid pupils who are finding the set work challenging and identify them early to avoid pupils falling behind or loosing confidence in their abilities. It is important that you have previously carried out similar work and desirably that you have been employed within a secondary school setting before.

Registering with us as a graduate teaching assistant, you will be eligible to work both as a classroom aid, but also as a cover supervisor, taking charge of classrooms in the absence of their usual teacher. You may be utilised to support the whole class along with the teacher to reinforce learning behaviour and curriculum particularly during the initial input of the lesson. In other scenarios you may be able to take small groups to provide additional support to revisit subjects and ensure pupils can progress to their best ability.

Our partner schools are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant who would like to have a career within the sector with the potential to train to teach in the future. They would like to see recent applicants who can be flexible on a daily basis to suit the needs of the school and the pupils. A recent degree would be advantageous in any area of your interest. Core subjects are desirable.

If you would like to continue or kick start your career in education, please apply but submitting your CV today!
