Teaching Personnel is hiring SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils in primary schools across Newport. You’ll play a vital role in helping children overcome challenges and thrive in the classroom.

Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Newport, South Wales

Start Date: June 2025

Pay: £420 – £500 per week (based on experience/qualifications)

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
-
Contract: Full-time (flexible/part-time roles also available)
Key Responsibilities
-
Support pupils 1:1 or in small groups with additional learning needs
-
Promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour
-
Adapt lessons to suit individual learning styles and abilities
-
Foster an inclusive, supportive, and engaging classroom environment
-
Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and specialists
-
Contribute to EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans) and IEPs
Who We're Looking For
-
Graduates in Psychology, Education, Sociology, Childhood Studies, or similar
-
Experience with children or young people (paid, voluntary, or personal)
-
Passionate about helping children with SEN
-
Calm, empathetic, and resilient under pressure
-
Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
