Teaching Personnel is hiring SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils in primary schools across Newport. You’ll play a vital role in helping children overcome challenges and thrive in the classroom.

⭐ The Role

• Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

• Location: Newport, South Wales

• Start Date: June 2025

• Pay: £420 – £500 per week (based on experience/qualifications)

• Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm

• Contract: Full-time (flexible/part-time roles also available)

Key Responsibilities

• Support pupils 1:1 or in small groups with additional learning needs

• Promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour

• Adapt lessons to suit individual learning styles and abilities

• Foster an inclusive, supportive, and engaging classroom environment

• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and specialists

• Contribute to EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans) and IEPs

‍ Who We're Looking For

• Graduates in Psychology, Education, Sociology, Childhood Studies, or similar

• Experience with children or young people (paid, voluntary, or personal)

• Passionate about helping children with SEN

• Calm, empathetic, and resilient under pressure

• Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills

• Looking to gain experience for careers like:

  • Educational/Clinical Psychology

  • Speech & Language Therapy

  • SEN Teaching

  • Child & Youth Work
