Immediate Start – Early Years Teaching Assistant | Newport
Newport | From £89 per day (pro-rata) | Full-time & Part-time Available | Start ASAP
Are you passionate about early childhood development and making a real difference? A welcoming and supportive primary school in Newport is seeking a caring and committed Early Years Teaching Assistant to support Nursery and Reception pupils, including children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).

About the Role
Working within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), you’ll provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping children thrive through structured play, positive reinforcement, and consistent routines.
You may support pupils with:
• Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
• Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN)
• Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs
• Developmental delays & sensory processing needs
Key Responsibilities
✔ Support learning through play-based and visual strategies
✔ Assist with IDPs/EHCP implementation
✔ Encourage communication, confidence & independence
✔ Promote emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour
✔ Work collaboratively with teachers and the SENCO
✅ What We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from Nursery Assistants, EYFS Practitioners, Learning Support Assistants, and ALN Teaching Assistants.
You will be:
• Patient, nurturing, and reliable
• Experienced in childcare, school, or ALN settings (personal experience considered)
• Confident supporting children with a range of additional needs
• Familiar with EYFS and inclusive learning strategies
Essential Requirements
• EWC Registration
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
• Two professional references (within the last 24 months)
