Graduate Teaching Assistant – Durham Secondary Schools

Just graduated and thinking about a career in teaching? Teaching Personnel is recruiting graduates to work as Teaching Assistants and Cover Supervisors in secondary schools across Durham. This is the perfect opportunity to gain hands on classroom experience before committing to a PGCE or teacher training programme.
You'll work alongside experienced teachers, support students with their learning, and get a real feel for what teaching involves day to day. Whether you're certain about teaching or just exploring your options, this role gives you valuable experience and competitive pay while you decide your next steps.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting students in lessons across different subjects
- Working with individuals and small groups who need extra help
- Assisting teachers with classroom management and resources
- Building positive relationships with students and staff
- Gaining genuine classroom experience that looks excellent on PGCE applications
- Contributing to a supportive learning environment
You need:
- A degree in any subject
- Passion for working with young people
- Good communication skills
- Patience and adaptability
- Willingness to learn and develop
- Previous experience with children or young people is helpful but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
