Are you a recent graduate looking to make a real difference in young people’s lives?

We are looking for a passionate, patient, and enthusiastic Graduate Learning Mentor & SEN Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic secondary school in Penarth, supporting pupils aged 11–18 within a dedicated Special Needs Base.

This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity for aspiring teachers, educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, counsellors, or anyone passionate about inclusive education.

The Role

You will work closely with pupils who require additional academic and emotional support, particularly students with hearing impairments and additional learning needs. You’ll play a vital role in helping pupils access learning, build confidence, and achieve their GCSE and A-Level potential.

This is a varied role where no two days are the same, including:

  • Providing in-class academic support across GCSE and A-Level subjects
  • Breaking down lesson content into accessible and manageable steps
  • Supporting pupils with hearing impairments within mainstream lessons
  • Working closely with class teachers and the SEN department
  • Offering emotional reassurance and positive mental health support
  • Helping pupils build confidence, independence, and engagement in learning
  • Creating a calm, encouraging, and supportive learning environment

You do not need to be trained in British Sign Language (BSL) for this role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
