Job description

An opportunity has arisen at a school in Macclesfield, for a competent Geography teacher to join the teaching staff. The individual will be an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual, who is able to confidently deliver high quality lessons. As the role will involve joining the teaching staff, it is important to note that the given individual will need to be able to work as part of a team. It is imperative that the individual is educated to degree level, and holds QTS. It is vital that the required applicant will hold secondary school experience, as well as being able to manage behaviour expectations in line with school policy. Being receptive to the specific needs of individuals is imperative, especially when catering for pupils who have SEN. Additionally, being able to successfully differentiate learning for those whose primary language may not necessarily be English is of high importance. The role will begin after the Easter break, and will run through until the end of the academic year. There may be potential for this position to run into the new academic year in September.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Delivering the school’s curriculum, being able to readily prepare students for examinations, in class testing as well as ensuring that homework tasks have been completed effectively.
  • Working with a broad range of students across a range of ethnic backgrounds, ages and abilities.
  • Access to regular training and personal development opportunities.
  • Offering feedback to subject leaders, and being able to offer constructive feedback to students regarding overall progress and attainment.
  • Pay - GBP24,473 and GBP40,490 annually dependant on prior experience.

The school is located in Macclesfield is not far from Manchester city centre.
