Job description

Geography Teacher – Specialist SEN Provision

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Geography Teacher to join our specialist provision in the Cranborne area. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people with additional needs, delivering engaging and accessible geography lessons within a supportive and nurturing environment.

Our school caters for pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH)
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Associated learning difficulties

The successful candidate will be committed to adaptive teaching, inclusive practice, and fostering positive relationships that enable every pupil to thrive academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver creative, differentiated Geography lessons across Key Stage 3 and 4
  • Adapt curriculum content to meet individual EHCP targets and learning profiles.
  • Support pupils’ emotional regulation and engagement in learning.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including SEN professionals and support staff.
  • Contribute to a safe, structured and supportive learning environment.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (desirable but not essential for the right candidate).
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle – the school is located in a rural area and is not accessible by public transport.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
