General Cover Teaching Assistant

Location: Wallasey (CH44)

Start Date: April 2026

Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time

Pay Rate: £13.75 – £15.00 per hour

Teaching Personnel are delighted to be working alongside a thriving and welcoming primary school seeking a confident, friendly, and passionate Teaching Assistant to provide general cover within a Year 4 class. This is an ideal opportunity for someone flexible, motivated, and committed to making a positive difference in children’s educational journeys while expanding their own professional skills and experience.

Responsibilities

• Supporting a class of Year 4 pupils, providing additional help as required.
• Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and behaviour management.
• Implementing strategies to maintain engagement, focus, and positive learning behaviours.
• Encouraging appropriate social interactions to help create a positive classroom atmosphere.
• Liaising effectively with the class teacher and wider school staff to ensure strong communication and consistency.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience working with children, or experience within a role with transferable skills.
• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable).
• A commitment to inclusion and supporting the well‑being of every pupil.
• Patience, empathy, and strong behaviour‑management skills.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
