Learning Support Assistant – Full Time

Swansea & Carmarthenshire | Immediate Start | Weekly Pay

We are recruiting Full-Time Learning Support Assistants to work in Primary Schools across Swansea and Carmarthenshire.

This role is suitable for candidates with experience supporting children and young people, including those with Additional Learning Needs (ALN / SEN).

Job Role: Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant

As a Learning Support Assistant  (LSA), you will:

  • Support pupils in the classroom and school environment
  • Provide 1:1 support and small group support
  • Assist pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN / SEN)
  • Support behaviour, engagement, and emotional regulation
  • Work closely with teachers and SENCOs
  • Help create an inclusive and positive learning environment

Roles are available in:

  • Mainstream schools
  • SEN schools and ALN units

Desirable Experience (Highly Valued – Not Essential)

Experience supporting Additional Learning Needs (ALN) is a strong advantage.

This may include experience with:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD / ASC)
  • ADHD
  • SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs)
  • Speech and Language needs
  • Learning difficulties
  • Behavioural needs
  • Trauma-informed or attachment-aware support

Experience can come from education or non-education settings, including:

  • Teaching Assistant / SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Learning Support Assistant
  • Support Worker / Care Worker
  • Childcare or Nursery Assistant
  • Youth Worker or Mentor
  • Psychology, Education, or Health-related degrees
  • Sports coaching or behaviour support roles

Personal or voluntary experience supporting children with ALN is also welcomed.

Candidate Requirements

  • Interest in working with children or young people
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to support pupils with additional needs
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
  • Right to work in the UK
