Teaching Assistant (Fluent Welsh Speaker)

Location: Primary Schools in the Llandeilo Area
Start Date: September 2025
Full-time / Part-time – Term Time Only
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience and qualifications

Are you a fluent Welsh speaker with a passion for supporting children’s learning?
We are looking for enthusiastic, caring, and committed Teaching Assistants to join our friendly and supportive primary schools in the Llandeilo area from September 2025. This is a wonderful opportunity to work across all Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2 year groups, helping pupils thrive in a Welsh-speaking environment.

Whether you’re an experienced Teaching Assistant or just starting your journey in education — we welcome applications from unqualified candidates who are eager to learn and grow. Full training and support will be provided.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Support classroom learning across all primary key stages (ages 3–11)
  • Work with individual pupils or small groups to boost progress and confidence
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging, bilingual lessons and activities
  • Encourage the use of Welsh in the classroom and throughout the school day
  • Help with setting up activities, preparing resources, and creating displays
  • Support the wellbeing, behaviour, and social development of pupils

Essential Requirements:

  • Fluent Welsh speaker (spoken and written)
  • A genuine interest in working with young children
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Friendly, positive, and patient attitude
  • Willingness to undergo safeguarding checks (DBS required)

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Previous experience working with children in a school or childcare setting
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or willingness to train)
  • Knowledge of the Welsh Curriculum or Additional Learning Needs (ALN)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
