EYFS Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Position

Location: Widnes, WA8
Start Date: February 2026
Contract: Full-time, long-term (with opportunity to become permanent)
Salary: £13.75 - £14.50 per hour (depending on experience)

We are working in partnership with a welcoming Church of England primary school in Widnes. The school is well-regarded locally for its nurturing ethos, strong leadership team, and inclusive approach to education.

The Early Years department is a warm, creative, and well-resourced environment where children are encouraged to explore, develop early independence, and build strong foundations for future learning. Staff describe the school as supportive, collaborative, and driven by a shared commitment to high-quality teaching and pastoral care.


 The Role – EYFS Teaching Assistant

We are seeking an enthusiastic and caring EYFS Teaching Assistant to support children in Reception. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils with early phonics, language development, and numeracy
  • Assisting with child-led and play-based learning
  • Leading small groups and providing 1:1 support where needed
  • Supporting the class teacher with planning, preparation, and assessments
  • Helping maintain an engaging, safe, and inclusive learning environment
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about Early Years education and child development.


The Ideal Candidate

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Have experience in an EYFS/primary school setting (school-based or nursery)
  • Hold a relevant childcare/TA qualification (Level 2 or Level 3 preferred)
  • Have a strong understanding of the EYFS framework
  • Are proactive, patient, nurturing, and creative
  • Can work collaboratively as part of a supportive team
  • Hold (or are willing to obtain) an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS
