Reception Teacher (EYFS)

Full-Time | Fixed term contract 12 months
Preston, Lancashire
Start Date: 1st September 2026
Preferred Handover/Transition Period: 1 day to meet new class TBC July 2026

We are seeking an enthusiastic, nurturing, and dedicated Reception Teacher to join our welcoming primary school in Preston from 1st September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate EYFS practitioner to play a key role in shaping children’s first experiences of school and fostering a love of learning from the very beginning.

The successful candidate will ideally be available for 1-2 days during July 2026 to meet their new class and ensure a smooth transition period. 

The Role

As our Reception Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, creative, and play-based learning in line with the EYFS framework
  • Support children’s development across the seven areas of learning:
    • Communication and Language
    • Physical Development
    • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
    • Literacy
    • Mathematics
    • Understanding the World
    • Expressive Arts and Design
  • Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment where every child can thrive
  • Observe, assess, and monitor children’s progress, maintaining accurate records and learning journeys
  • Foster children’s confidence, independence, communication, and social development
  • Support positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing through nurturing classroom practice
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SEND staff, and the wider school team
  • Build strong partnerships with parents and carers to support each child’s learning and transition into school
  • Ensure safeguarding and welfare responsibilities are upheld at all times
  • Contribute positively to the wider life of the school community

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Has experience teaching within EYFS, ideally Reception class
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of the EYFS curriculum and child development
  • Is warm, caring, patient, and enthusiastic
  • Can create inspiring learning opportunities through play and exploration
  • Has excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Works effectively as part of a team
  • Is committed to achieving the best outcomes for every child

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
