1:1 ESOL Tutor – Walsall
Location: Walsall
Job Type: Part-time / Flexible
Setting: 1:1 tuition
Hours: Primarily during school/working hours
About the Role
We are looking for a passionate and experienced ESOL Tutor to provide high-quality 1:1 English language support to learners in the Walsall area.
The successful candidate will work closely with learners to develop their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, helping them build confidence and improve their ability to communicate effectively in English.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and personalised 1:1 ESOL lessons.
- Assess learners' individual needs and tailor lessons accordingly.
- Support learners with speaking, listening, reading and writing.
- Develop learners' confidence in using English in everyday and educational settings.
- Plan and prepare appropriate learning materials and activities.
- Monitor learner progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain a positive, supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with schools, families and other professionals where appropriate.
Requirements
- Previous experience teaching ESOL/EFL/English.
- Minimum 2 years of teaching or tutoring experience is desirable.
- Strong understanding of English language teaching and learning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, supportive and adaptable approach.
- Ability to engage learners on a 1:1 basis and adapt teaching to individual needs.
- Relevant teaching qualifications such as TEFL, CELTA, ESOL teaching qualification, QTS or PGCE are desirable.
- Experience working with learners who have English as an additional language (EAL) would be advantageous.
