Yeovil | Full-Time | September 2026 Start

Shape Futures Through the Power of English

Teaching Personnel is seeking an experienced English Teacher to join a specialist educational setting in Yeovil from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for a committed educator who believes every young person deserves access to a high-quality education, regardless of the barriers they face.

You'll be teaching pupils who require specialist support, adapting your approach to meet a variety of additional needs while helping students develop confidence, communication skills and a love of learning.

We're looking for someone with proven classroom experience who can hit the ground running from the start of the academic year. This is not a role suited to an ECT; the successful candidate will be confident managing their own timetable, planning engaging lessons and supporting learners with diverse educational profiles.

About the Role

You will deliver engaging English lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, tailoring teaching to ensure every pupil can access the curriculum and achieve meaningful progress.

  • Planning and delivering creative, differentiated English lessons.
  • Teaching a range of qualifications, including GCSE where appropriate.
  • Supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and additional learning needs.
  • Monitoring progress and using assessment to inform future planning.
  • Creating a structured, positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Working collaboratively with teaching assistants and wider school staff.
  • Contributing to EHCP outcomes and individual learning plans where required.
  • Building strong relationships with pupils to encourage confidence, resilience and engagement.
  • Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, attendance and achievement.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Has recent experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4.
  • Has experience working with pupils with SEND, SEMH, autism or other additional needs.
  • Can confidently differentiate lessons to meet a wide range of abilities.
  • Demonstrates excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Has a thorough understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Is ready to make an immediate impact from September 2026.

Experience within a specialist school or alternative provision would be highly advantageous.
