About the Role

We are recruiting on behalf of a secondary school seeking an ambitious, passionate, and imaginative English Teacher to join their English department from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a friendly, supportive, and dedicated team, delivering high‑quality English education and helping students develop strong literacy skills, confidence, and a love of learning. The role is open to both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs), with appropriate support available.

The successful candidate will be committed to inspiring students, promoting high standards, and contributing positively to a collaborative departmental culture.


The Role: English Teacher

As an English Teacher, you will deliver engaging and effective lessons across the curriculum, contribute to schemes of learning, and support students to achieve their full academic and personal potential.

You will play a key role in shaping learning experiences that motivate learners, promote progress, and ensure high‑quality outcomes in line with professional teaching standards.


What You Will Do

  • Deliver high‑quality English teaching in line with the Teachers’ Standards
  • Plan, implement, and contribute to schemes of learning within the English department
  • Use a range of teaching strategies to meet the needs of learners of varying abilities
  • Monitor, assess, and track student progress using appropriate assessment systems
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback, including live marking, to support progress
  • Set and mark homework in line with school policy and student needs
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, attainment, and progress
  • Take part in parent/carer information events and contribute to wider school life
  • Ensure a consistently high‑quality learning experience for all students

  • Maintain public trust in the teaching profession
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and ethical behaviour within and beyond the classroom

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Passion for teaching English and supporting student achievement
  • Strong classroom practice and knowledge of effective teaching and learning strategies
  • Ability to motivate, inspire, and challenge students

  • Willingness to collaborate and contribute to department development
  • Open to ECTs and experienced teachers alike

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
