Job description

Are you an English graduate looking to gain valuable school experience before pursuing a career in teaching?

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic English Graduate to support our busy and successful secondary school English department in Rochdale. This is an excellent opportunity for someone considering a future in teaching who wants to build classroom experience while working alongside experienced teachers.

In this role, you will support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping to raise attainment and develop students’ confidence in reading and writing. You will work closely with the English department, assisting in lessons, supporting small groups and individual students, and contributing to a positive learning environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting teachers during English lessons

  • Working with small groups or individual students who need additional support

  • Helping students develop literacy, reading and writing skills

  • Assisting with classroom preparation and learning activities

  • Encouraging student engagement and confidence in English

This role is ideal for:

  • Graduates with a degree in English or a related subject

  • Individuals considering a career in teaching or education

  • Candidates who are passionate about literacy and supporting young people

This position provides a fantastic opportunity to gain first-hand experience in a secondary school, develop classroom skills, and work within a supportive department before progressing into teacher training in the future.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
