EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Lancaster
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time or Part-time

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lancaster to recruit an EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant for a September start. This opportunity is available on a full-time or part-time basis, supporting pupils within an Early Years setting with additional needs.

The role:

You will be supporting children in EYFS with a range of special educational needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties and developmental delay. Support may be provided on a one-to-one basis or within small groups, depending on individual pupil needs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing SEN support within an EYFS classroom
  • Supporting pupils in line with EHCPs and individual learning plans
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO
  • Encouraging engagement, confidence and positive behaviour
  • Supporting learning through structured activities and play-based learning

The ideal candidate:

  • Has experience working with children with SEN (school, nursery or care setting)
  • Has EYFS experience or a genuine interest in early years education (desirable)
  • Is patient, nurturing and adaptable
  • Is able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Has a passion for supporting children with additional needs

A Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential, as training and ongoing support can be provided for the right candidate.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
