Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for an EAL Assistant to join their school to support pupils who do not speak English as their first language in their learning. This position is due to start in September at the start of the academic year and it will be a full-time role.
The salary for this position is between £420 and £450 per week dependent on experience and requirements.
The successful candidate for this position will either be an experienced EAL Teaching Assistant or a recent graduate with a background in languages. For this position, it is essential that you are willing to apply for a fully enhanced DBS check, and that you can provide two employment-based references. You must also have a good understanding of all safeguarding procedures and how to deal with situations which may arise.
The key responsibilities:
- Supporting EAL students with their specific learning needs.
- You must build a relationship with EAL students so that you are best able to support them.
- You must be interested in helping to build an awareness of EAL within the school.
- You must be able to monitor the pupils’ development and be able to report back to other staff members about their progression.
- You will have a responsibility to ensure that all safeguarding procedures are being followed correctly.
The highlights of this position are that you will be supported by Teaching Personnel as well as the school throughout your employment, whether you are already experienced or a recent graduate. For graduates, this is an excellent opportunity to gain experience within a classroom setting. Due to the disadvantaged setting of this school and the EAL support element of this role, it is expected that this position will be highly rewarding.
