Position: Deputy Head
Location: Independent Special School, Westbury
Salary: Competitive, Dependent on experience
Start Date: September 2024
Contract: Permanent

A highly reputable Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) School Group is seeking an exceptional Deputy Head to join the permanent staff list of their independent special school in Westbury, starting September 2024.

This esteemed institution is dedicated to providing outstanding education and support to students with SEMH needs, ensuring each pupil achieves their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Headteacher in the overall management of the school, including strategic planning and daily operations.
  • Lead on curriculum development and implementation, ensuring it meets the diverse needs of SEMH students.
  • Foster a positive school culture that promotes student well-being, engagement, and academic success.
  • Support and manage staff development and performance, providing guidance and professional growth opportunities.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
  • Engage with parents, carers, and external agencies to support student progress and well-being.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and school policies.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a proven track record of successful teaching experience.
  • Extensive experience in a leadership role within an SEMH or special education setting.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges and strategies associated with SEMH education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a diverse team, fostering a collaborative and supportive working environment.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying abreast of the latest educational research and practices.
  • Passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of students with SEMH needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
