Job description

Cover Supervisors Needed Across Wirral Secondary Schools

Teaching Personnel is proud to support a network of mainstream secondary schools across the Wirral, and we are seeking committed, confident, and classroom-ready Cover Supervisors to join our expanding team.

Whether you’re an experienced cover supervisor, a graduate considering teacher training, or someone with strong people-management skills looking to step into the education sector, this role offers a rewarding pathway into schools.

What the Role Involves

As a Cover Supervisor, you will:

  • Supervise classes during teacher absence, ensuring students remain on task with set work
  • Manage behaviour positively and consistently
  • Deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects—no subject specialism required
  • Build relationships with staff and students to contribute to a supportive school environment
  • Provide feedback to teachers and senior leaders after each lesson
  • Support with registration, corridor duties, and occasional small-group interventions

What We’re Looking For

You might be a perfect fit if you:

  • Live locally to the Wirral or can travel easily to the area
  • Have prior experience in education or strong transferable experience (youth work, coaching, mentoring, customer-facing roles, childcare, etc.)
  • Enjoy working with young people and can communicate clearly and confidently
  • Can remain calm, assertive, and positive in a busy school environment
  • Are looking for flexible work—day-to-day, part-time or full-time

Why Work With Teaching Personnel?

  • Competitive daily pay based on experience
  • Variety of placements across friendly, well-supported Wirral secondary schools
  • A consultant who works closely with you to match your preferences
  • Opportunities for long-term roles and permanent school contracts
  • Access to CPD training, including behaviour management, safeguarding, and subject-specific development
  • A fantastic stepping stone into teacher training, HLTA roles, or pastoral support positions

Perfect for Aspiring Teachers

Many of our Cover Supervisors go on to secure:

  • School-based teacher training
  • PGCE placements
  • Long-term teaching assistant roles
  • Behaviour mentor roles
  • Internal school training pathways

If you’re considering teaching but want real classroom experience first, this is the ideal route.
