Cover Supervisor – Flexible Opportunities Across Teesside

Are you looking for a rewarding and flexible role in education? Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting confident, motivated Cover Supervisors to work across a variety of secondary schools in Teesside and surrounding areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, or experienced education professionals who are keen to gain hands-on classroom experience while maintaining control over their work schedule.


About the Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning in the absence of the class teacher. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering pre-prepared lesson plans across a range of subjects
  • Managing classroom behaviour effectively and maintaining a positive, focused learning environment
  • Supporting students in completing their work and ensuring learning objectives are met
  • Adapting confidently to different schools, subjects, and year groups (ages 11–16)
  • Building strong relationships with students and staff to support engagement and progress

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for individuals who are:

  • Confident, resilient, and able to lead a classroom independently
  • Strong communicators with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Organised, proactive, and adaptable to new environments
  • Passionate about working with young people and supporting their development

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Previous experience working with young people (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, coaching, youth work)
  • A degree or relevant qualifications
  • An interest in pursuing a career in teaching or education
