Cover Supervisor – Secondary Schools | Sheffield

Location: Sheffield

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting Cover Supervisors to work across a range of secondary schools in Sheffield. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, and individuals with experience working with young people to gain valuable classroom experience while earning a competitive daily rate.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise lessons in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring students remain engaged with the work set and follow school expectations. This role is ideal for candidates considering a future career in teaching, education, or youth work.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will:

  • Deliver pre-set lesson materials provided by teaching staff
  • Supervise classes across a variety of subjects
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Support students to remain focused and engaged
  • Maintain a positive and productive learning environment
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff following lessons

No teaching qualification is required; however, confidence managing groups of secondary-aged students is essential.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Hold a UK-recognised degree or have relevant experience working with young people
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Are confident managing classroom behaviour
  • Are reliable, adaptable, and professional
  • Have a genuine interest in education

Previous experience in schools, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, youth work, or customer-facing roles is beneficial but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
