Cover supervisor

Location: Northampton
Start Date: 18/9/26
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Contract: Full time

Dedicated and adaptable cover supervisor with experience delivering high-quality teaching on short-term assignments across a range of secondary schools across Northamptonshire. Skilled in quickly establishing positive relationships with pupils and staff, maintaining continuity of learning, and creating an engaging classroom environment. Experienced in delivering pre-planned lessons, managing classroom behaviour effectively, and ensuring pupils remain motivated and supported throughout temporary placements. Committed to maintaining high educational standards while adapting to the individual needs of each school and class.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging lessons in line with the National Curriculum and school expectations.
  • Follow lesson plans and ensure continuity of learning during staff absence.
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of pupils with varying abilities, including SEND and EAL learners.
  • Maintain effective classroom management and promote positive behaviour.
  • Assess pupil understanding and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and school staff to support pupil progress.
  • Uphold safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times.
  • Provide clear handover notes on pupil progress and lesson outcomes.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an educator who:

  • Is adaptable and comfortable working with different year groups and ability levels.
  • Has a clear understanding of Safeguarding and keeping children safe in education.
  • Is enthusiastic, reliable and committed to providing high-quality learning experiences.
  • Can build strong, positive relationships with children.
  • Is available for full-time work and can travel.

Working Hours

Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
