The Role: As a Cover Supervisor, you will be an integral part of the team, providing crucial support in maintaining the continuity of education during teacher absences. Your role will involve supervising students as they engage with pre-planned lessons, managing classroom behaviour, and ensuring a productive learning atmosphere.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise students and ensure they remain focused on pre-set work.
  • Manage classroom behaviour with a positive and encouraging approach.
  • Assist students with their tasks and provide guidance as needed.
  • Address any immediate issues or emergencies, prioritising student safety.
  • Report on student behaviour and any incidents to the relevant staff.

Requirements:

  • Educational Qualifications: Minimum GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths.
  • Understanding Students: Ability to relate to and support students, fostering an inclusive atmosphere.
  • Group Management: Effective management of groups, maintaining a structured learning environment.
  • Commitment: Dedication to overcoming barriers to learning and aiding student success.
  • Patience and Positivity: A patient demeanour and a positive attitude to encourage and support students.

Desirable Skills:

  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to different classroom settings and student needs.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills for effective interaction with students and staff.
  • Problem-Solving: Quick thinking to promptly address classroom issues.
