As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing lessons during teacher absences. This includes managing the classroom, delivering pre-prepared work, and ensuring students remain focused and on-task. While you won’t be expected to teach new content, you will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning and a calm, purposeful environment.
Your day-to-day duties will include:

Supervising whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff

Ensuring students understand and engage with the work set
-
Managing classroom behaviour in accordance with school policies
-
Supporting students with basic questions and helping them stay on track

Registering attendance and ensuring homework is recorded appropriately

Reporting back to teaching staff on student engagement and any concerns

Assisting with duties such as exam invigilation, break/lunch supervision, or escorting pupils between lessons or on school visits

Providing administrative support to departments when not required for cover

Participating in school life and supporting the wider needs of the team

This role is ideal for graduates aiming to gain classroom experience before progressing into Initial Teacher Training, as well as individuals with prior school or youth work experience. Qualified teachers seeking an alternative to a full teaching timetable are also encouraged to apply.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
