Are you a university student, recent graduate, aspiring teacher, coach or youth mentor looking to gain valuable experience in a secondary school?

This exciting dual role combines classroom cover with sports support, giving you hands-on experience, responsibility and the opportunity to make a genuine difference to young people.

Teaching Personnel is working with welcoming secondary schools across Cardiff to recruit enthusiastic, confident and adaptable Cover Supervisors & Sports Support Assistants.

What you'll be doing

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons across subjects including English, Maths, Science, Humanities, PE, DT, Art, Computing and MFL

  • Supervise classes in the absence of the class teacher, maintaining a positive and focused learning environment

  • Support PE lessons, extracurricular activities and after-school sports clubs

  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement from students

  • Create an inclusive and supportive environment for learners of all abilities

  • Build positive relationships with students, teachers and wider school staff

  • Use your leadership, communication and organisation skills to support students throughout the school day

What we're looking for

  • Currently studying towards, or already holding, a degree in any subject — sports-related degrees are a bonus

  • A genuine interest in education, sport, coaching or youth development

  • Confident, proactive and adaptable communication skills

  • The ability to build rapport with young people and maintain professional boundaries

  • Coaching, leadership, mentoring or youth-work experience is desirable but not essential

  • A positive attitude and willingness to get involved

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
