Job description

Teaching Personnel are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a Special Needs school in Portsmouth, supporting both primary and secondary-aged pupils with a range of additional needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in education, healthcare, or support work who is passionate about positively impacting the lives of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The Role:

  • Supporting pupils with complex learning needs, including Autism, sensory needs, non-verbal communication, and physical needs

  • Assisting with the implementation of classroom activities and tailored learning plans

  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in education, healthcare, or a care or support role

  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs

  • A valid Enhanced Child Workforce DBS, or willingness to apply

  • Availability for full-time work, 08:30am to 15:30pm, term-time only

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
