Classroom Support
Job description
Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Cover Supervisor, Youth Worker, Sports Coach, Graduate, or someone with a genuine passion for supporting young people?
We are currently working in partnership with a number of welcoming and inclusive secondary schools across Oldham who are looking to recruit reliable and enthusiastic Classroom Support Staff for both full-time and part-time positions. These opportunities are available immediately and offer the chance to make a real difference to students' educational journeys.
The role will involve supporting students both in and out of the classroom, helping them to engage with learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential. Depending on your experience and the needs of the school, you may work on a one-to-one basis, support small intervention groups, assist students with additional learning needs, or provide behaviour and pastoral support. Some positions may also involve covering lessons in the absence of teaching staff.
Schools are keen to hear from candidates who can build positive relationships with young people, remain calm and professional in challenging situations, and contribute to a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment. Previous experience working with children or young people is highly desirable, whether gained in schools, sports coaching, youth work, mentoring, care, support work, residential settings, or other community-based roles.
Successful candidates will possess strong communication skills, a positive attitude, excellent reliability, and a genuine commitment to helping students succeed. Experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH needs, behaviour challenges, attendance concerns, or barriers to learning would be particularly beneficial.
In return, schools can offer varied and rewarding roles, supportive leadership teams, ongoing professional development opportunities, and the chance to gain valuable experience within education. Whether you are looking for a long-term position, flexible part-time work, or a route into teaching, these roles provide an excellent opportunity to develop your career within the education sector.
