Are you an experienced Youth Worker, Behaviour Mentor, Sports Coach, Residential Support Worker, or Community Support Professional looking to take your skills into education?

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a secondary school in the Abergavenny area to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a Year 7 pupil from September. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience supporting young people who is passionate about making a difference and interested in building a long-term career within education.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a Year 7 pupil throughout the school day, helping them access learning, engage positively in lessons, and build confidence within the classroom environment.
The student may present with additional needs such as:
- ADHD
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Challenging behaviour
You will:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support during lessons.
- Help the pupil stay engaged and on task.
- Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Build a positive and trusting relationship with the student.
- Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to support progress and wellbeing.
- Develop valuable classroom management and behaviour support skills.
This role offers excellent experience for individuals looking to progress within education, with opportunities to move into positions such as Cover Supervisor (Classroom Lead) and other school-based roles in the future.

Requirements
- Experience supporting children or young people in any setting.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A genuine passion for helping students achieve their potential.
- Enhanced DBS Certificate (or willingness to obtain one through Teaching Personnel).
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC), or willingness to register. We can support you with this process.
