Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit a BSL teaching assistant for in a specialist provision in South West London. The school provides specialist education for students aged 10-19 with speech and language communication needs (SLCN) and/or are deaf. Many of the students also require support for additional needs such as ASD or visual impairment.  The school has been rated as Good by Ofsted and students have given excellent feedback, reporting feeling safe and happy at school. Multi-disciplinary teams, an innovative approach to learning and highly enthusiastic staff and pupils, make this school a highly desirable and rewarding place to work.

  • Temporary to permanent position (if successful)
  • Working with small groups or 1:1 to support students
  • Negotiable salary (depending on experience)

As a successful candidate you must have:

  • A good level of British Sign Language (Level 2 BSL minimum)
  • Proof of right to work in the UK
  • 2 Proofs of address within the last 3 months
  • Be able to provide 2 references
  • Valid DBS certificate (on the update service) or willing to complete a new one
  • Experience working in a school or supporting children and adolescents
  • A confident personality with an open mind and the ability to adapt to new environments
  • SEN experience desirable
  • Relevant degree desirable

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
